Ruby Franke Banned From YouTube Amid Abuse Charges

YouTube “momfluencer” Ruby Franke has been banned from the platform after she was charged with six counts of felony child abuse.

Last Wednesday, 30 August, Franke – a mother of six and creator of the popular “8 Passengers” vlogging channel – and her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, were arrested in Utah on two counts of aggravated child abuse. She was then charged with a further four counts of child abuse.

The arrest comes after one of Franke’s children, who was in an emaciated state and bound with duct tape, managed to escape from the house and sought refuge at a neighbour’s house. Since then, Franke’s allegedly abusive practices – from withholding food to banning one of her sons from sleeping in his own bedroom – have come to light.

In response, two of the 41-year-old’s YouTube channels, including “8 Passengers”, have been terminated.

“We can confirm that we have terminated two channels linked to Ruby Franke in accordance with our creator responsibility guidelines,” said YouTube spokesman Jack Malon in a statement shared with an American media outlet on Wednesday, 6 September.

Should Franke attempt to reupload her deleted content or create new channels, YouTube will automatically delete them.

Franke is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, Friday 8 September.
